What is BskySuite?

BskySuite is a free online toolkit built for the Bluesky community. Our flagship tool lets anyone download videos, images, and GIFs from any public Bluesky post in seconds, no account required, no watermarks, no software to install.

We believe saving content you care about should be effortless. Paste a link, click download, and you're done. That's it.

Our Mission

The open web should have open tools. Bluesky is built on the AT Protocol, a decentralised, open standard for social networking that puts users in control of their data. BskySuite exists to build useful, honest utilities on top of that open foundation, starting with the tools people ask for most.

We do not lock features behind paywalls. We do not add watermarks. We do not require sign-ups. Every tool we build will be free to use for everyone.

Why we built this

When Bluesky started growing rapidly in 2024, users quickly noticed there was no easy way to save a video or download a photo from a post. Third-party tools either didn't support Bluesky, added intrusive watermarks, or required unnecessary account creation. We built BskySuite to fix all of that, a clean, straightforward downloader purpose-built for Bluesky from day one.

How it works

BskySuite uses the official AT Protocol public API to look up post metadata. When you submit a Bluesky post link, we resolve the post record and retrieve the media blob directly from the author's Personal Data Server (PDS). The file is streamed to your device in its original format and quality, no re-encoding, no compression, no modifications.

• Videos download as MP4 in their original resolution (up to 1080p)
• Images download as JPEG or PNG at full upload quality
• GIFs download as their original animated file

Privacy first

We do not log, store, or share any post URLs you submit. We do not build user profiles or track individual sessions beyond standard anonymous analytics. We do not require you to create an account or connect any social profile. Everything runs transparently, we pass your request to the AT Protocol API and hand the file back to you.

Only public content

BskySuite works exclusively with publicly accessible posts. Content on private, restricted, or deleted accounts cannot be accessed through our tools. We respect the AT Protocol's access controls and Bluesky's content visibility settings at all times.

The tools we build

BskySuite now offers five free tools, each built around a gap in the default Bluesky experience:

• Video & Image Downloader, saves the original media file from any public post, because Bluesky has no built-in save option.
• Post Screenshot Generator, renders a clean, high-resolution card of a post for sharing elsewhere.
• Profile Analytics, surfaces engagement patterns and posting times that Bluesky does not display natively.
• Handle Checker, checks username availability against the live AT Protocol identity API.
• Trending Topics, collects trending hashtags, topics, popular feeds, and active accounts in one view.

We also publish a free Chrome extension that adds a download button directly inside Bluesky.

Our editorial approach

Alongside the tools, we maintain a blog covering how Bluesky and the AT Protocol actually work: custom feeds, moderation and labelers, starter packs, custom domain handles, scheduling, third-party clients, and comparisons with other networks. Every guide is written and tested against the live platform rather than assembled from other articles.

A few standards we hold ourselves to:

• We verify before we publish. Steps in our how-to guides are checked against the current Bluesky interface, and we cite primary sources such as Bluesky's own announcements where relevant.
• We state limitations plainly. Where a tool or a platform feature cannot do something, we say so rather than glossing over it. Bluesky's public API does not expose impressions or reach, for example, so we do not present estimates as measurements.
• We date our content. Guides carry publication and update dates so you can judge how current they are, and we revise them when the platform changes.
• We do not use engagement bait. No fabricated statistics, no invented reviews, no claims we cannot support.

Who runs BskySuite

BskySuite is an independently built and maintained project, not a venture-backed company or a content farm. It is run by a small team that uses Bluesky daily and builds these tools primarily because we wanted them to exist. Development, writing, and support all happen in-house. If something is broken or wrong, a real person reads the message and fixes it.

Because we are independent, we have no incentive to push you toward a paid tier. The tools are free, require no account, and are funded by unobtrusive advertising rather than by selling data, which we do not collect in the first place.

Corrections and feedback

If you spot an error in a guide or a bug in a tool, please tell us. We correct mistakes rather than quietly leaving them up, and updated articles carry a revised date. The fastest route is the contact form or hello@bskysuite.com.
